A sporty weekend

School has been back in session for 3 weeks already and we are enjoying ourselves immensely. Seeing our friends from last year, getting to know the new teachers, and of course... Felix. This weekend became a sporty one with the happening of 2 displays of pure athleticism that centered around our school's turf field. Friday afterschool teachers vs. maintenance staff and Saturday's appearance of the Vino Tinto (Venezuela's national soccer team).

1. Lets face it: we as a staff didn't hold onto many high hopes going into the game against the school's maintenance and security guys- our only glimmer was that Felix would only be assuming manager duty as his back was out (he still came in and DH'd for 2 runs). We did expect to have a great time getting to know these guys better- what a fun group of coworkers.

Mashing Mike Larios tells Felix how its going to be.

Mike's homerun that put the teachers in the lead. Albeit shortlived lead- still a lead.

Sean Feller bringing the big stick.

Noah, clearly returning to his cricket roots actually seemed more comfortable swinging at pitches after they had bounced and was heard muttering after one inning wearing a glove "what kind of wimp needs this mitten to catch?"
Coincidentally he had a brilliant bare hand grab on a long fly ball- you can take the cricketer out of England but you can't take...

Lisa channeled her little league days and was en fuego. My favorite part was the ladies in the background all started chanting "mujer fuerte" Strong Woman- yes she is.
Almost had them... well the hotdogs and beer after the game were fantastic

2. Vino Tinto. Through some sort of connection or heck maybe even the national team needs a safe place to practice the Venezuelan soccer team came to practice on our school's field. It was fun watching them and then getting a few photos with them afterwards

This would of course be the great Cichero.
you might remember him from this game...or
ask this student who was wearing his jersey

As usual, good stuff on the weekend- it was so sporty that next weekend we are heading to the beach to recover and relax.
