A short note on the neighborhood perro caliente stand. Mak Dannys (they don't sweat trademarks down here) is a hot dog stand by nature but so much more in reality. Hot dogs are different here- the basics are the same (dog + bun) but then its all about the toppings. crispy potato chips, onions, alfala sprouts, cole slaw, ketchup, mustard, mayo, and about 5 other options to slather on if you choose. It truly is a wonder I can fit it into my mouth.
Luca is a bit more traditional than I just opting for ketchup and papas fritas. They are tasty and the guy making them is very nice. In fact Luca has deemed him "the nicest man in Caracas".
We will miss Mak Dannys and the nicest man. My mid section will not.
My non hot dog favorite: the mak roll. hamburger, chicken, egg all chopped up and put in a roll with the above mentioned ingredients.
another short note: in Venezuela perro caliente means hot dog. In other latin countries perro caliente means dog in heat. Too funny
